News From The Northside Studio

Mr. Smalls Studio would like to congratulate The Mandrake Project on their worldwide distribution deal with Swedish-American cooperative Blistering Records and the release of their album “A Miraculous Container”.  Studio owner Larry Luther recorded, mixed and mastered this album in conjunction with the band.  They held their CD release at the Rex Theater on the Southside. It was an awesome show.  This is the second full length project by the band done at Mr. Smalls Studios with Larry.  Read reviews and check out more info at:

Mr. Small Recording and Mastering Studio would like to congratulate Formula 412 with their recognition at the 3rd Annual Pittsburgh Hip Hop Awards. The band won two awards, Hip Hop Band Of The Year, and CD of the Year for their album   “The Difference”, .  They are an amazing band and the awards are well deserved. “The Difference” was recorded, mixed and master by Larry Luther and produced by Masai Turner.   Check it out here:

Producer/Musician Brian Kruman was featured in The Pittsburgh City Paper for his musical career and boutique label Extant Music. Brian has done three albums with Larry Luther at Mr. Smalls, “The Great Game”, “Dark Lonesome”, and most recently “La Mano De Fatima”. He is currently working on his fourth, a Hip Hop Project.  Brian has a very unique, and brilliant, musical mind. Check these out:

Local rock band Silent Minority have finished up mastering on thier first full length release. Nate Campisi recorded, mixed, and mastered this album at Mr. Smalls Northside Studio. The band plans on donating a portion of thier album sales to charity. Look for it this summer. Front man Brent Drier also owns West View's Center Avenue Slice. This is by far the best pizza place in the area. Try them out you will not regret it.

Indie Pop band Onze (pronounced Ski Mask) finished thier first full lenth album this month. Larry Luther and Nate Campisi tag teamed the recording, mixing, and mastering on this catchy collection of songs. They held thier CD release at Mr. Smalls Theater in Millvale. A great time had by all. Check them out:

Mr. Smalls congratulates Ishtar for being voted "Best Underground Band" 2008 by the Pittsburgh City Paper. Ishtar recorded and mastered their "BellyRock" with Larry Luther. The cd was mixed by bandmember Jeff Chmielarski at his studio. For more info check out:

Irish rock band Ceann recorded two nights live at Murphy's Irish Pub in Virginia Beach with Larry Luther. We packed up most of the studio to make sure this up and coming band could get the recording they deservered. It was a great couple of nights. Some of thier fans travelled several hundred miles to be at this historic occasion. The album will be mixed at Mr. Smalls this Spring. Larry also worked with Ceann thier 2008 release "Making Friends". More information on Ceann at:
